Friday is Jersey Day in Canada
In anticipation of the first-ever Sports Day in Canada this Saturday, sport bodies across the country are inviting everyone to join in “Jersey Day” one day earlier.
Canadians from coast to coast to coast can display the pride they have for Canadian sport by donning their favourite jersey or team uniform at work, school or play on Friday, Sept. 17. This country’s spirit for sport has revved up this year with the phenomenally successful and unifying 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Canada loves its hard-working, driven athletes and Jersey Day is one small way to get behind them and feel the spirit.
Here is Hayley Wickenheiser, Canada’s highest-scoring hockey player, spurring us on: . She is one of many Olympians sure to be wearing Canadian colours Friday.
So on Friday dig out your national team hockey or soccer uniform, your favourite Olympic shirt, your Blue Jays or Whitecaps or Alouettes or Flames jerseys, or the uniform of a team you yourself play for. Anything will do. Tweet, Facebook, tell one, tell all.
