Olympian Heil honoured
MONTREAL – The Canadian Olympic Committee Tuesday congratulated Canadian Olympic icon and sport advocate skier Jennifer Heil, who was honoured with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in Montreal.
“Jennifer is not only a champion, she continues to provide the country with incredible inspiration,” said Canadian Olympic Committee President Marcel Aubut. “She sets a standard for what we all strive for in the sport community and for this, she remains a champion in everything she does. This award today is a testament to that and the Canadian Olympic Committee congratulates her.”
Heil, a freestyle mogul skier, won a gold medal for Canada at the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Turin, Italy and a silver medal at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver.
“I am so proud to be a Canadian Olympian today,” said the Montreal resident and Spruce Grove, AB native. “This is a wonderful honour and it reminds me of the importance of sport in our communities and the positive impact that can come from being involved in sport.”
The four-time world champion was presented the prestigious medal by his Excellency the Right and Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada.
