Watch Toronto get ‘invaded’ by thousands of fierce athletes

A new video promoting Toronto 2015 has shown up and it’s pretty awesome.

Released on the TravelOntarioCanada YouTube channel with a cool one-word title: ‘Invade’ is a forceful 60-second collision between hundreds of athletes and Toronto’s hardened cityscapes. The cinematic shots swing from the Don Valley to the Lake Shore including a dramatic baseball scene on Bay Street.

One of the most striking things about the video is the song. It’s a line from The Delfonics – Ready or Not Here I Come (sampled in Fugees – Ready or Not) with the vocalist hammering the hook. Our first guess was Metric’s Emily Haines, but according to the creators it’s Canadian producer Mischa Chillak and singer Esthero.

Honestly, with thousands of athletes storming Canada’s most populous city you’ve got a pretty sick spot. According to the marketing team for Ontario Tourism, a 30-second version will also be released this fall.

CHECK OUT ‘INVADE’:

The video’s description mentions ‘the largest sport event in our history’ with ‘7,500+ athletes’ who will compete at the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games.
NOTE: Among others, Canadian Olympian and former World Record holder Annamay Pierse makes a brief appearance around the 48-second mark.
