Volleyball Canada named Olympian Josh Binstock and partner Sam Schachter to the men’s beach volleyball team. Rising stars Melissa Humana-Paredes and Taylor Pischke were selected for the women’s.
Binstock and Schachter were selected for the Pan Am team in the midst of a successful season. The pair finished second at the Porec Major bringing home Canada’s first FIVB World Tour ‘major’ medal since 1997. The team was ranked fourth on the FIVB World Tour as of June 14.

Humana-Paredes and Pischke teamed up in 2012 to compete in the FIVB World Junior Championships. The duo went on to win bronze medals at the 2013 and 2014 FIVB World U23 Championship. Since then the pair has climbed the beach volleyball ranks to its current position of 10th in the world.
“Playing in the Pan American Games has always been a dream of mine since I was little when I had the chance to watch them in Winnipeg in 1999. I think getting the opportunity to compete in a tournament of this magnitude prior to the Olympic year is invaluable,” shared Pischke.
