Linda Morais

Biography

Linda Morais punched her ticket for Paris 2024 at the final World Olympic Qualifier in Istanbul, Turkey in May 2024 where she captured the final spot for the women’s 68kg weight class. Morais competed in six matches in two days. In her final bout for third place and the Olympic spot, she scored an early four-point takedown en route to the victory.

In 2019, Morais joined an elite group of Canadian women wrestlers when she won gold in the 59kg weight class at the UWW World Championships. Only four other Canadian women have won world titles in wrestling. Morais won 68kg bronze at the 2022 World Championships, a month after she captured silver at the Commonwealth Games. She had previously won 60kg bronze at the 2016 World Championships, her first time competing at the senior worlds.

Morais just missed out on qualifying for Tokyo 2020. She won the women’s 57kg event at the Canadian Team Trials but came up short of earning a quota spot at the Pan Am and World Olympic Qualifiers.
