Canadian Olympic Committee and The GIST Launch New Media Partnership
TORONTO (September 5, 2025) – The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) and The GIST, the Canadian-founded, women-led sports media brand, today announced a new media partnership aimed at transforming how Canadians experience and engage with the Olympic movement. As part of this collaboration, The GIST becomes the Official Digital Sports Media Partner of Team Canada.
At a time when sports fandom is rapidly evolving, this partnership takes a major step to meet fans where they are — on social media, in their inboxes, on their phones, and in the conversations they care about. This partnership embraces a fresh, inclusive approach to content that authentically connects with Gen Z and Millennial audiences, especially women and underrepresented fans.
Since its founding in 2017 by three Canadian women, The GIST has grown into a media force reaching more than one million newsletter subscribers and over 40 million sports fans monthly across North America. With over 80% of its audience identifying as women, The GIST’s community is vibrant, engaged, and hungry for storytelling that’s smart, accessible, and culturally relevant, making it the perfect partner to help amplify Team Canada’s stories on and off the field of play.
“This partnership is so special to us, not just because we’re proudly Canadian, but because it represents a massive opportunity for Olympic storytelling,” said Ellen Hyslop, Co-Founder and Head of Content & Audience at The GIST.
“We’re honoured to partner with the COC to spotlight Canadian athletes, make Olympic content more accessible, and celebrate stories that reflect the diversity and heart of this country,” added Jacie deHoop, Co-Founder and Head of Partnerships.
Through the partnership, The GIST and the COC will co-produce exclusive digital content tailored for modern audiences from behind-the-scenes storytelling and athlete features to original video and social series designed to deepen fan connection in the lead-up to, during, and following major Olympic moments. With Milano Cortina 2026 and LA 2028 just around the corner, fans can expect timely, relevant content that brings them closer than ever to the people and stories behind Team Canada.
“We are thrilled for The GIST to be joining Team Canada at this exciting moment,” said Jacqueline Ryan, Chief Brand and Commercial Officer of the COC and CEO of the Canadian Olympic Foundation. “The GIST’s unique approach to content has elevated sports coverage in North America, and as a longtime reader I’m so excited to see what this partnership yields for both Team Canada athletes and fans.”
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to not just deliver content, but to build a powerful model for Olympic storytelling that prioritizes inclusion, innovation, and impact.
