Canadian Olympic Foundation welcomes Brian Gallant and Moez Kassam to its Board of Directors
TORONTO (June 23, 2020) — On Tuesday, the Canadian Olympic Foundation welcomed Brian Gallant and Moez Kassam to its Board of Directors.
“Both Brian and Moez are wonderful additions to our Board,” said Cindy Yelle, Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Olympic Foundation. “As we look to grow the Olympic Movement across the nation, it is important that we have board members who are committed to making that happen. I am excited to see what the future has in store.”
Gallant is a highly respected and dynamic Canadian leader who previously served as the Premier of New Brunswick. Currently, Gallant is a Senior Advisor at Navigator, the Chief Sustainability Officer at Global Canada, and a Special Advisor on Innovation, Cybersecurity and Law to the President of Ryerson University. His expertise in building relationships between businesses and communities coupled with his passion for sport will help propel the Canadian Olympic Foundation to new heights.
“It is an absolute honour to be joining the Canadian Olympic Foundation and I look forward to doing all that I can to support Team Canada,” said Gallant. “Sports have played such an important role in my life so I look forward to helping our extraordinary Canadian athletes.”
Kassam brings a wealth of knowledge and creative energy to the Foundation. Kassam is the co-founder of Anson Funds and has over two decades of experience as a successful entrepreneur, fund manager and philanthropist. In 2018, Kassam was an honoured recipient of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40.
“Sports and athletic competition play an ennobling role in many of our lives, and are an essential part of the shared fabric of this great nation. It is for these reasons that I am honoured to join the Board of Directors of The Canadian Olympic Foundation,” said Kassam.
“Working alongside the great team at the Foundation, I hope to support our great Canadian athletes, and further widen the mission of the Olympic Movement in our country.”
As the Canadian Olympic Foundation continues to help high-performance athletes look towards the Return to Sport, Gallant and Kassam will play an important part in ensuring Canadian athletes have what they need to continue to pursue their Olympic dreams.
“Having such distinguished people as Brian and Moez join our Board is a tremendous asset to the Foundation,” said Perry Dellelce, Chair, Canadian Olympic Foundation. “They both have an immense amount of business experience, which will greatly benefit the Foundation and its work raising both awareness and funds for Team Canada.”
The Canadian Olympic Foundation empowers Canadians to be an integral part of the Canadian Olympic Movement by directly supporting our current and Next Generation athletes and coaches with the critical funds they need to pursue the podium.
