SOCHI – Canadian superstar and JUNO Award winner, Roch Voisine will visit Sochi during the 2014 Olympic Winter Games from February 13th to 15th. Roch will perform a concert at Canada Olympic House on February 13th to celebrate our athlete successes and encourage our Canadian athletes. He will also attend events and watch our athletes live out their dreams on the Olympic snow and ice.
“I’m very excited to have been asked to play with my band at Canada House in Sochi,”
said Roch Voisine. “I can’t wait to perform in front of our great athletes and all our Canadian friends out there for the Games. We have prepared a very special show!”
Official broadcasters, CBC and Radio-Canada, have confirmed special interviews direct from Sochi. Jian Ghomeshi will talk with Roch on CBC Radio One’s Q about his 2014 Canadian Olympic Team Anthem and the new album on Monday February 17th. Living Out My Dreams is featured with a montage of the most powerful Olympic images from Sochi on CBC TV’s Olympic Primetime on February 12th.
Broadcasting live from Sochi each evening in Quebec, Roch will be interviewed by France Beaudoin for the primetime show Bon baisers de Sochi. ‘Pour l’honneur’ is the theme for the show’s Olympic coverage.
Roch Voisine’s new album My Very Best is released on February 11th, an incredible collection of his English hit songs from the past 25 years. The package will feature four new tracks including the first single Living Out My Dreams, a song specifically created for the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) as the official Anthem for the 2014 Canadian Olympic Team competing in Sochi. Together with the Orchestre symphonique de Montreal and famous conductor Maestro Kent Nagano, Living Out My Dreams honours Canadian Olympians and their Olympic journey.
“It’s been a fantastic 25 years and I’ve enjoyed working with great musicians, writers and producers. I felt the time was right to put together the songs that the fans enjoyed the most with a few new ones,” said Roch Voisine.
A successful singer, songwriter, performer and philanthropist, Roch Voisine has sold 12 million records worldwide throughout his career, maintaining superstar profiles in both French and English Canadian markets. Over the past 25 years, all of Roch Voisine’s English albums have achieved Gold, Platinum or multi-Platinum status.
Roch Voisine will also make a donation from the profits of Living Out My Dreams to the Canadian Olympic Foundation to help support emerging athletes.
“I am so proud the release of this new song will help support our next generation of Canadian athletes,” said Roch Voisine. “When Dean Landon, Anika Paris and I wrote this song, our goal was to help inspire our athletes. I know our donation will be invested in valuable programs, ensuring more of our young athletic talent will have the resources they need to achieve their Olympic goals.”
Orchestre symphonique de Montréal Music Director Kent Nagano stated: “I participated in this beautiful project called Living Out My Dreams and I was very happy to do it to support our Canadian athletes and the Olympic Movement. Good luck!”
“A future generation of Olympians will benefit enormously from this collaboration with Roch Voisine, and we are grateful for his amazing talent and support of the Canadian Olympic Foundation,” said Marcel Aubut, President, Canadian Olympic Committee. “As we head into the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, let us not forget the athletes that will be here at home, training tirelessly to be ready for Rio, PyeongChang and Tokyo. Initiatives like this are the only way that Canada will have continued success on the podium.”
