Alison Mackie

Biography

Alison Mackie is set to make her Olympic debut at Milano Cortina 2026 at just 20 years old.

Mackie won two bronze medals at the 2025 FIS Junior World Championships, reaching the podium in the women’s 10km free and women’s 20km mass start classic. She was the first Canadian woman to win a world junior championship medal in cross-country skiing since 1989. She just missed another medal in the women’s sprint classic, finishing fourth in the final by only 0.05 of a second. That was her third straight appearance at the junior worlds.

It was also in 2025 that Mackie debuted at the senior FIS World Championships. She and Liliane Gagnon skied to a top 10 finish in the women’s team sprint classic. She was also part of Canada’s ninth place finish in the women’s 4×7.5km relay.

Mackie made her FIS World Cup debut in February 2024, competing in two races in Minneapolis. She returned to the circuit in January 2025 for the second half of the 2024-25 season, after starting the season competing in Nor-Am Cup events. She achieved her career best individual World Cup result in March 2025, placing 26th in the women’s 50km mass start classic in Lahti, Finland. It was her first ever race longer than 20km.

During the 2023-24 season, Mackie struggled with Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S). Her training load had increased drastically, but she was unaware of how much more fuel her body would need for that training, leading to consistent sickness throughout the season and other physical issues.

Mackie won four medals (one gold, three silver) at the 2023 Canada Winter Games for Team Alberta.
