Blake Tierney

Biography

  • Finished second in the 100m backstroke at the 2023 Canadian Swimming Trials 
  • Had also finished second in the 100m backstroke as well as the 200m backstroke at the 2022 Canadian Swimming Trials 
  • Placed second in the 200m backstroke at the 2021 Canadian Swimming Trials 
  • Made his World Aquatics World Cup debut in October 2022; was a finalist in the 200m backstroke 
  • Won three individual medals at the 2023 Mel Zajac Jr. Invitational: 100m backstroke gold, 50m breaststroke silver, 200m backstroke bronze; also won gold with the men’s 4x100m medley relay and 4x200m freestyle relay and silver in the 4x100m freestyle relay 
  • Won medals in all four events he entered at the 2022 Canadian Senior Championships: gold in 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke, silver in 200m backstroke, bronze in 200m freestyle 
  • Competes collegiately for UBC; helped the Thunderbirds win 2023 U SPORTS National Championship titles in the men’s 4x100m and 4x200m freestyle relays; won individual medals in the 50m backstroke (silver), 100m backstroke (silver), and 200m IM (bronze)
