Jasvir Rakkar was selected in the 26th round of the 2012 MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs. He has spent most of the 2015 season with their Advanced A affiliate, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, making 10 saves in 13 opportunities with a 1-1 record and a 2.40 ERA. In 2014 he pitched one inning for the AAA Iowa Cubs, splitting the rest of the season between Advanced A, Full A and Short A leagues. Rakkar is attempting to become the first baseball player of Indian descent to reach the major leagues. He earned a scholarship to Stony Brook University and was part of the Seawolves’ run to the College World Series in 2012 that included a series win over the LSU Tigers, handing them their first home post-season loss in decades.
