Biography

Jordan Binnington is set to make his Olympic debut at Milano Cortina 2026. In February 2025, Binnington backstopped Canada to the championship at the 4 Nations Face-Off, starting in net for every game en route to the title.

He has twice represented Canada at the IIHF World Championship. In 2025 he recorded a pair of shutouts and allowed just five goals in four games as Canada was upset 2-1 by Denmark in the quarterfinals. Binnington played for Canada at the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship, appearing in two games.

Binnington was drafted in the third round, 88th overall, by St. Louis in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He began his pro career in the ECHL with the Kalamazoo Wings in 2013-14 before moving up to the AHL. He would spend more than four years in the minors, getting a one-game taste of NHL action in January 2016.

He finally earned a full-time call up to the NHL midway through the 2018-19 season. He posted a shutout in his first career start, kicking off one of the greatest rookie runs in league history. At the time of his call up, the Blues sat last in league standings. Binnington went 24-5-1 the rest of the season, getting St. Louis into the playoffs. Despite only playing half the season, he earned a spot on the NHL All-Rookie Team and was named a Calder Trophy finalist for Rookie of the Year. His run didn’t end there, starting every playoff game as the St. Louis Blues won their first Stanley Cup in team history. He set the NHL record for wins by a rookie goalie in a single postseason (16).

As of December 2025, he holds the Blues’ franchise record in wins and games played by a goalie.

Binnington played junior hockey with the Owen Sound Attack where he holds the franchise record for wins by a goalie (86). He won the 2011 OHL Championship, going on to be named the Memorial Cup Most Outstanding Goaltender and selected to the Memorial Cup All-Star Team. In 2012-13 he was named the OHL Goalie of the Year, leading the league in shutouts (7) and team GAA while being selected to the end-of-season All-Star First Team. He represented the OHL All-Star team in the 2013 Canada-Russia Super Series.
