Biography

Louis-Béland-GoyetteIn 2012 Richard Gomes made his debut in the Canadian youth program at age 18. He currently plays for Deportivo la Coruna B in the Spanish third division. He was part of the Canadian team that competed at the 2013 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship.

PERSONAL

Family: Parents Henri and Cristina Gomes… Younger brother Pedro… His father is from France and his mother is from Portugal, where he lived from 1998 to 2000… Getting into the Sport: Started playing soccer at age 5… When he was 12, he was confident in his ability and potential and decided he wanted to be the best he could be so he now puts himself into situations to help him grow and improve… His cousin Andrew taught him how to be a goalkeeper and his father coached him in his youth… Outside Interests: Enjoys playing video games, watching basketball and soccer, spending time with family… Odds and Ends: Favourite motto: “YOU are and always will be, whoever YOU want to be”… Before a game will take off his religious bracelet and thank God for everything He has given him and that he can stay injury free… Nickname: Ricky…
