Sean MacKinnon

Biography

Sean MacKinnon is a member of Cycling Canada’s NextGen Track Endurance program. Similar to programs already in use by track cycling powerhouses Australia and Great Britain, the goal is to create a men’s endurance program that will be ready to compete for medals at the 2020 Olympic Games. In 2014 he spent four months racing in Europe with the national team program before joining an amateur team in Belgium for the summer. At the Canadian Championships in January 2015, MacKinnon won bronze in the multi-discipline omnium and gold in team pursuit alongside Pan Am Games teammates Ed Veal and Rémi Pelletier-Roy. MacKinnon gained his first major exposure to track cycling in 2014-15 when he competed at three UCI World Cup events as part of the team pursuit.
