Water polo women first Team Canada squad to win at TO2015

Water Polo Canada’s women’s team is officially the first Canadian squad to win a match at the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games, after a 15-4 group stage win over Venezuela.

Canada in Group B, tied Brazil 7-7 on Tuesday night. On Wednesday against Venezuela, Dominique Perreault led the way with a hattrick, while Emma Wright, Christine Robinson and Stephanie Valin each had a two-goal match.

Canada finishes round robin play against Puerto Rico on Thursday afternoon in Markham. Top two teams from the group advance to the semifinals.

Pan Am look ahead to July 9

While TO2015 doesn’t officially begin until the Opening Ceremony on July 10, early rounds in water polo, synchronized swimming, diving and tennis are taking place this week at various venues.
