Biography:

Christopher Fiola is an ice speed skater in the winter and an inline speed skater in the summer. On inline skates, he won the 200m and 500m while finishing second in the 10,000m at the 2015 Canadian Trials. His career highlight is finishing fifth in the 300m and the 500m at the 2014 Festival Olympico Panamericano in Puebla, Mexico. Other notable results include victories in the Marathon de Montreal and the National Roller Cup in 2012 as well as the Canada Day Marathon in 2014. He finished third in the New York 100km in 2012. On the ice, Fiola made his World Junior Championship debut in 2015, finishing eighth overall for the best Canadian result since 2010. At the 2015 Canadian Junior Championships he won the sprint combination (500m/1000m) and finished second in the all-around (500m/1000m/1500m/5000m). Fiola began his speed skating career in short track before switching to long track in 2013 after back-to-back injuries that left his ankles too weak to support his weight on the tight short track oval. He first broke his right leg when he fell while entering a corner at full speed. Three days after he had fully recovered, he broke his left leg during an inline marathon.
