Tough day in Triathlon
It was a tough day for Canadians at Hyde Park as Edmonton AB native Paula Findlay fell off the pace early to finish the 1.5km swim, 43km bike and 10km women’s Triathlon event in 52nd place. It was the first competitive race for Findlay after many months spent recovering from injury. Teammate Kathy Tremblay of Montreal suffered a crash on the bike portion and was forced to drop out of the race.
“I had nothing in my legs – I don’t know what happened,” said Findlay. “This is not what I expected but the Olympics are a crazy thing. I’m so sorry to everyone in Canada. I knew finishing was better than pulling out.”
