Maple Leaf Moments: Double Trouble

Double Trouble: One year from now, freestyle stars Alexandre Bilodeau and Mikaël Kingsbury will be expected to drop into the moguls course at Rosa Khutor, in Sochi. The defending Olympic champ Bilodeau and reigning World Cup champion Kingsbury will hopefully be looking to put the Olympic stamp on international Canadian dominance in the bumps.

On this day: It was February 10, 1998 when long- track speed skaters Jeremy Wotherspoon and Kevin Overland won silver and bronze in the men’s 500m at the XVIII Olympic Winter Games in Nagano. It was one of 11 times in Olympic Winter Games history that Canada has won two medals in the same event. In Vancouver, on the third day of competition, Mike Robertson captured the silver medal in men’s snowboardcross to set the stage for some consistent Canadian speed on the slopes.
