VOTE: Humphries up for inaugural SportAccord Awards
Double Olympic champion Kaillie Humphries is up for an award and fans can vote to help nominate her for the final.
The inaugural SportAccord Awards has nominated Humphries for Sportswoman of the Year, with fan voting taking place in the first stage. After which, the top four vote getters will be in the final, with the winner decided by a voting committee on April 23 in Sochi.
SportAccord brings together international sport federations with over 100 full and associate members representing their craft.
Humphries has had a groundbreaking season in which she piloted a four-man sled in international bobsleigh competitions, including the World Championships, while continuing to compete in the women’s race (two-man). Currently, her sport does not allow four-person bobsleigh races for women in major competition, something Humphries is actively working to change by example.
After her Sochi 2014 exploits and challenging the gender imbalance in her sport, Humphries was named the Lou Marsh Trophy winner in Canada, widely recognized as the top individual sports honour in the country.
