McMorris tells fans he is on the mend after “freak accident”
After suffering a terrible crash at Air + Style Los Angeles on Sunday, Olympic snowboarder Mark McMorris has posted on Instagram to inform fans that he is on the mend.
McMorris won X Games Aspen gold and silver earlier this year, taking top spot in slopestyle and coming second to his compatriot Max Parrot in big air.
Since winning Olympic bronze in the debut of snowboard slopestyle at Sochi 2014 with a cracked rib, McMorris has continued to innovate his signature disciplines, raising the bar in a sport that demands new tricks virtually every time riders head out in front of expectant crowds.

At X Games Aspen in 2015, McMorris won both the slopestyle and big air titles to re-establish his dominance in snowboarding. That year he also said he had “unfinished business” at the Olympic Games.
His “freak accident” came just before X Games Oslo, which starts on Wednesday featuring most of the world’s best boarders and freestyle skiers, including 13 Canadians.
