Snowboard: Brochu wins World Cup, Toutant lands US Open bronze

Baptiste Brochu won a FIS World Cup gold in snowboard cross, while Sebastien Toutant stole the slopestyle bronze, at the US Open this weekend.
Brochu battled snowy conditions and the competition to claim his first World Cup victory on Saturday in Veysonnaz, Switzerland. The Canadian, who only had one top ten result this season, finished first in his semifinal heat before racing to gold.
“It feels so good to win my second final appearance ever. I’m super stoked. It’s a dream come true. I don’t have much to say. It’s great to win here in Veysonnaz, the place where I broke my rib last year. Brouchu told the International Ski Federation.
France’s Pierre Vaultier won the silver, while Allessandro Harmmerle of Austria claimed bronze. Canada’s Kevin Hill finished 10th overall after placing fourth in the small final.

Sebastien Toutant who won slopestyle silver at X games Aspen, made his way onto another international podium, after finishing third at the US Open in Colorado on Friday.
The Canadian scored 80.95 to nab the slopestyle bronze, behind winner Kyle Mack (89.75) and and silver medallist Eric Beauchemin (83.5) from the United States.
