Team Canada athletes’ first reactions to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Village

As Canadian athletes arrive in Tokyo, the excitement of finally seeing the Olympic Village and venues is one of their first experiences of the Olympic Games. Let’s take a look at what some athletes have shared as they get prepared and settled in for Tokyo 2020.

Many athletes’ first stop, like four-time Olympian Meghan Benfeito, was snapping a shot at the iconic Olympic rings and checking out the Olympic Village.

Athletes like rower Kasia Gruchalla-Wesierski made use of a photo opportunity outside of Team Canada building with the iconic Canada moose statue and swimmer Finlay Knox grabbed a shot with that Team Canada Olympic branding.

Two-time Olympian Lynda Kiejko took the time to check out the beautiful views from the Village.

The first time at an Olympic venue is always a monumental moment for the memory bank (and great for a social media post)!

Athletes also showed off their love for the Team Canada clothing kit. Getting to represent your country colours while walking around the Olympic Village isn’t hard when the outfits look this good.

We’re looking forward to watching Team Canada athletes in action as competition get underway in Tokyo! See when your favourite athlete is competing with our Tokyo 2020 Olympic Event Centre.
