Cloé Lacasse
Biography
Cloé Lacasse debuted with the senior national team in a November 2021 friendly against Mexico. She had her first start against Germany during the 2022 Arnold Clark Cup and picked up her first senior international goal in a match against Argentina in October 2022.
Lacasse was part of the silver medal-winning team at the 2022 Concacaf Championship, earning Canada a spot at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Lacasse was a member of that World Cup team as well. In the inaugural Concacaf Gold Cup in 2024, Lacasse scored once during Canada’s group stage win over El Salvador. The team eventually reached the semifinals. Lacasse also played at the SheBelieves Cup in 2023 and 2024. She had made her international debut back in 2012 with Canada’s youth program.
Lacasse played collegiately at the University of Iowa and led the team in goals in all four years. As a junior, she led the Hawkeyes to their first ever NCAA Tournament berth and was an All-Big Ten Second Team selection. She was named to the All-Big Ten First Team as a senior.
Lacasse began her professional career in Iceland and won the Iceland Cup with IBV in 2017. She then moved to Portuguese club Benfica, winning three consecutive league titles (2021-23), a pair of Portuguese League Cups and three SuperCups. She joined Arsenal in the English Super League in 2023-24 and won the FA League Cup in her first season with the Gunners. She has 12 career goals in 26 Champions League matches.

Getting into the Sport: Started playing rec soccer at age 3… Began playing football because she would always see her brother, Lucas, practicing or playing with his friends in the yard: “Being the younger sister, I had an obligation to annoy my brother as often as possible. So naturally I began challenging him to play 1-v-1. Eventually I became good enough to beat him. By then I had grown a real love and passion for the game”… Outside Interests: Blackbelt in taekwondo… Enjoys running, biking, swimming, would like to compete in triathlon after football… Graduated from the University of Iowa with a Sociology degree with a minor in French and Communication Studies…
