Emy Legault

Biography

For Emy Legault, the 2022 season was the type of year she says she “could have only dreamed of”. In June, she stood on her first World Triathlon Cup podium, finishing second in Huatulco, Mexico. After helping Canada to a fifth-place finish in the mixed relay at the World Triathlon Sprint & Relay Championships in Montreal, she earned her first career individual top-10 finish on the World Triathlon Championship Series (WTCS) in Hamburg. She then competed in her first major games, finishing 10th at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. That fall, she won two medals at the Americas Triathlon Championships, taking bronze in the women’s race and silver with the mixed relay.

Legault was a member of Team Canada at the Santiago 2023 Pan Am Games. She helped Canada win bronze in the mixed relay and finished sixth in the women’s individual event.

The junior national champion in 2014, Legault competed in the junior world championships held at the WTCS Finals in 2013, 2014, and 2015. She dealt with a disruption to her career in 2018 when she was diagnosed with runner’s knee and then a stress reaction in her shin but says that the injuries made her stronger as she learns more about herself in the low times than the good times.
