Mark Stone
Biography
Mark Stone is set to make his Olympic debut at Milano Cortina 2026. He has won two medals with Team Canada at the IIHF World Championship, averaging more than a point per game with 24 points in 20 games played at the worlds. In his debut with the senior national team, Stone won gold at the 2016 IIHF World Championship. Three years later, as an alternate captain, he was named MVP of the 2019 IIHF World Championship and was selected to the All-Star Team as Canada won the silver medal. In 2025, Stone helped Canada claim the 4 Nations Face-Off championship, scoring once in the tournament.
Stone made his first international appearance as a member of Canada Western at the World U17 Challenge. He led Canada in scoring with 10 points at the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship, en route to a bronze medal.
Stone was drafted in the sixth round, 178th overall, by the Ottawa Senators in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He made his first pro start in the 2012 playoffs, picking up an assist. He made his regular season debut the following year and split time between Ottawa and their AHL affiliate in Binghamton. He became an NHL fixture in 2014-15 when he was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team and was a Calder Trophy finalist for Rookie of the Year.
He spent four more seasons with the Senators before a trade in 2019 sent him to Vegas. He was named captain in 2020 and led the Golden Knights to the Stanley Cup championship in 2023. He is a two-time Selke Trophy finalist for best defensive forward.
Stone played junior hockey for the Brandon Wheat Kings in the WHL, serving as assistant captain in his third and fourth years. In both of those seasons he scored more than 100 points and was a WHL First Team All-Star. In 2012 he was chosen for both the CHL Sportsman of the Year and WHL Most Sportsmanlike Player awards. He represented the WHL All-star team in the 2012 Canada-Russia Super Series.
