Travis Sanheim
Biography
Travis Sanheim is set to make his Olympic debut at Milano Cortina 2026. Sanheim helped Canada win the championship trophy at the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off.
He won a silver medal in his senior national team debut at the 2022 IIHF World Championship and was part of the fifth-place finish at the 2025 IIHF World Championship.
Sanheim’s first international experience was as a member of Canada Western at the 2013 World U17 Hockey Challenge. He was named the best defenceman of the 2014 IIHF World U18 Championship, leading the tournament in points by a defenceman and being named a Top 3 Player on Team Canada en route to a bronze medal. He was part of the sixth-place finish at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship.
Sanheim was selected 17th overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the first round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He began his pro career in 2016 with Lehigh Valley of the AHL before getting the call-up to the NHL in 2017-18. He set a career high with 10 goals and 44 points in 2023-24.
Sanheim played junior hockey with the Calgary Hitmen. In 2015-16 he led the WHL in points by a defenceman and was named to the Eastern Conference First All-Star Team. He was a Second Team All-Star selection in 2016. He represented the WHL All-Stars in the 2015 Canada-Russia Super Series.
