Kingsbury back on top

Mikael Kingsbury of Deux-Montagnes, QC captured gold at the first FIS World Cup moguls event held at the Rosa Khutor Extreme Park – the host site for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games. Kingsbury, the World Cup leader, posted a score of 86.43 in the second run of the final to take the win. Canadian teammate t (Quebec City, QC) claimed third.

“Last year in the Europa Cup I won here, so it was a good practice for tonight,” said Kingsbury. “Just to have the feeling that I have been here helps. It’s a real World Cup course, it’s kind of like Cypress (Mountain in Vancouver). It’s not hard, it’s not easy, just challenging. It’s the perfect course for the Olympics.”

Kinsbury’s win clinches his bid to earn eligibility for provisional early nomination to the Canadian Olympic Team through the Canadian Freestyle Ski Association’s ‘Method A’ process.
