Canadian Olympians nominated for ESPY awards
For the third time in five years, Canadian Olympic snowboarder Mark McMorris has been nominated for an ESPY Award.
McMorris, a bronze medallist in slopestyle at Sochi 2014, is trying to become the first Canadian to win the award for Best Male Action Sports Athlete. The 22-year-old was nominated for the same award last year and in 2013.

Snowboarder Mark McMorris has been nominated for the Best Male Action Sports Athlete at the 2016 ESPY Awards.
The Regina native won every snowboard slopestyle event he entered during the 2015-16 season, including the Winter X Games in Aspen where he edged fellow Canadian Sebastien Toutant. The 2016 X Games saw McMorris win his fourth gold medal in five years in slopestyle.

McMorris is up against motorcross racer Ryan Dungey, freestyle skier Gus Kenworthy, skateboarder Nyjah Huston and skateboarder Pedro Barros for the award.
Fans can cast their vote for McMorris on the ESPYS website.
To show support, McMorris is asking fans to use #VoteMcMorris on social media. He has already gotten support from Edmonton Oilers forward Jordan Eberle, Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Meanwhile, Brooke Henderson, who is expected to represent Canada in women’s golf at Rio 2016, was nominated for the Female Golfer of the Year award. Currently ranked No. 2 in the world and coming off her third career LPGA tournament win, the 18-year-old is up against Lydia Ko, Inbee Park and Ariya Jutanugarn.
Sidney Crosby, who has won two Olympic gold medals with Team Canada, has been nominated for best NHL player.
The ESPY Awards take place July 13.
