Justin Kripps and Cam Stones claim silver in Germany

Canadian bobsleigh partners Justin Kripps and Cam Stones earned themselves a silver medal in the 2-man bobsleigh at the ISBF World Cup in Königssee, Germany on Saturday.

The duo led the pack in the opening round with a speedy time of 49.51 seconds. Kripps and Stones carried this momentum through with them to the second round clocking in 49.61s on their second try.

The Canadian pairing finished shy of first place by just 11 seconds, falling to Germans Francesco Friedrich and Martin Grothkopp. Friedrich and Grothkopp claimed the top spot with a combined time of 1:39.01 minutes. Fellow Germans Johannes Lochner and Christian Rasp finished in third (1:39.44).

This is Kripps and Stones’ second week in a row reaching the second step of the podium in Germany. Last week, the pair competed in Altenberg where they picked up another silver medal.

Fellow Canadians Nick Poloniato and Ryan Sommer also hit the track in Königssee, finishing in 9th place with a final time of 1:40.03.

The ISBF World Cup in Königssee will continue on Sunday with the four-man event.
