Diamond League: Lovett wins silver, Arop claims bronze in Monaco

On Friday at the Diamond League stop in Monaco, Django Lovett was Canada’s top finisher with silver in the high jump event.

The Surrey, British Columbia native landed in second place with a jump of 2.29m. He had a jump off with first place finisher Mikhail Akimenko, who won the event with a height of 2.32m. Belorussian Maksim Nedasekau rounded out the podium in third place.

In the men’s 800m race, Marco Arop took the bronze medal with a time of 1:43.26 seconds, behind Kenyan Emmanuel Kipkurui Korir (1: 43.04 s) and Botswana’s Nijel Amos (1:42.91 s).

Three-time Olympic medallist Andre De Grasse narrowly missed the podium in the 100m finishing fourth with a time of 10.00s. American Ronnie Baker crossed the finish line first with a time of 9.91s.

Finally, in the javelin event, Elizabeth Gleadle finished in fifth place with a throw of 58.40m.
