Gilles and Poirier claim sixth consecutive Skate Canada International title

Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier made history in front of home fans in Saskatoon at the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating.

With a gold medal win in ice dance, the pair became the first to win six consecutive gold medals at the Skate Canada International.

With a score of 202.89 points, the pair edged Lithuanian’s Allison Reed and Saulius Ambrulevicius to take the title. They were joined on the podium by Canadians Marjorie Lajoie and Zachary Lagha, to make it a double podium for Canada.

Gilles and Poirier led after Saturday’s rhythm dance with a score of 85.38, despite Reed and Ambrulevicius finishing first in the rhythm dance, it was not enough to close the gap.

Gilles and Poirier weren’t the only Canadian pair to take home a gold medal, as Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps won gold in pairs on Saturday, their third straight Skate Canada International pairs win.

Lia Pereira and Trennt Michaud nearly missed the podium for Canada in pairs, finishing 12.5 points outside of the podium in fourth place.

Roman Sadovsky was the top Canadian in men’s as he finished in seventh place. In the women’s draw, Madeline Schizas finished ninth.

Three tournaments remain on the Grand Prix of Figure Skating 2025 calendar as the action will shift next weekend with the NKH Trophy in Japan.
