Jeffrey Read

Biography

Jeffrey Read is continuing a family tradition by competing in the Olympic Winter Games at Milano Cortina 2026. He is the son of one of Canada’s most famed alpine skiers, Crazy Canuck Ken Read. His older brother, Erik Read, represented Canada in alpine skiing at PyeongChang 2018 and Beijing 2022.

Read has competed at four senior FIS World Championships, starting in 2019. In 2023, he was part of Canada’s bronze medal in the mixed team parallel event. The moment was extra special because he shared the podium with his brother, Erik. His best individual result at the world championships was a 10th-place finish in the super-G in 2025.

Read made his FIS World Cup debut in January 2018 in Wengen. He earned his first World Cup points in December 2020 when he finished 26th in the downhill in Val d’Isere. He broke into the top 20 for the first time in January 2021, finishing 18th in the super-G in Kitzbuehel. His first top 10 was a seventh-place finish in the downhill in Kvitfjell in March 2022. Read stood on a World Cup podium for the first time in February 2024 when he finished second in the super-G in Kvitfjell. He ended the 2023-24 season ranked 10th in the World Cup super-G standings.

Read competed at four editions of the FIS Junior World Championships (2015-2018) with his best result being a sixth-place finish in the downhill in 2018.

Read began competing in Nor-Am Cup events in 2014. He is a 13-time winner on the Nor-Am Cup circuit. He was ranked second overall in the Nor-Am Cup standings in 2018-19 and 2019-20.
