Nick Suzuki

Biography

Nick Suzuki is set to make his Olympic debut at Milano Cortina 2026. He last suited up for Canada at the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship. Prior to that, he won gold with Team Canada White at the 2015 World U17 Hockey Challenge. The next year he competed with the Canadian U18 team at the 2016 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament, finishing fifth.

Suzuki was named the 31st captain of the Montreal Canadiens ahead of the 2022-23 season. He had been drafted in the first round, 13th overall, by the Vegas Golden Knights in 2017 before his rights were traded to Montreal in September 2018. He made his NHL debut in 2019-20 and was named to the All-Rookie Team. In 2021 he helped the Canadiens advance all the way to the Stanley Cup final.

Suzuki played most of his junior career with the Owen Sound Attack. He was a 2016 OHL All-Rookie Team selection and in 2017 was awarded the CHL Sportsman of the Year and earned an OHL Second Team All-Star nod. He was traded to Guelph in 2019 and led the Storm to the OHL Championship title, winning Playoff MVP and earning a Third-Team All-Star selection. He twice played for the OHL All-Star team in the Canada/Russia Super Series. Suzuki won a gold medal with Team Ontario at the 2015 Canada Winter Games.

Famed Canadian environmentalist, David Suzuki, is a cousin of his grandfather.
