Tye Ikeda
Biography
Tye Ikeda took the first step towards making his Olympic debut at Paris 2024 when he finished second in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions at the Continental Championships of the Americas in Buenos Aires, Argentina in April 2024. His performance earned an Olympic quota spot for Canada. Ikeda then won that spot for himself at the team selection trials in late May 2024.
Ikeda had come close to the podium at the Santiago 2023 Pan Am Games when he finished fourth in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions. Just a couple months earlier, he had competed at the ISSF World Championships for the first time where he was Canada’s lone entry in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions.
At the 2022 Continental Championships of the Americas, Ikeda posted a personal best score of 581 in the qualification round of the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions to advance to the eight-man final.
