Olympic Team Rocks the Block in Toronto

Canadian super-star recording group Hedley belted out their hits to more than two-thousand screaming fans as the Canadian Olympic Team took over Maple Lead Square in the heart of downtown Toronto for a massive summer block party to honour the Canadian athletes heading to London for the 2012 Olympic Games.

The sold-out Canadian Olympic Block Party, presented by Molson Canadian, welcomed more than two-thousand enthusiastic fans and was an opportunity to cheer on athletes from across Canada who competed at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games as well as some of those who will be competing at the London 2012 Olympic Games this summer.

“Since Vancouver, the relationship between Canadians and their athletes has grown stronger and more involved,” said Canadian Olympic Committee Chief Executive Officer Christopher Overholt. “Today is about celebrating that relationship, sending our athletes off to London in style and enjoying a fantastic show in the process.”

In addition to the concert and appearances by Canadian Olympic heroes, festivities included autograph signings with Olympians and Olympic hopefuls, as well as free giveaways and participation by a variety of official Canadian Olympic Team partners.
