Canoe-Kayak
Olympic champion and two-time flag bearer Adam van Koeverden (Burlington, ON) hits the water today in the men’s K-1 1,000m. After a silver medal in Beijing, AVK will look to top the podium at Eton Dorney. Heats begin at 4:30 a.m. EST. A half-hour later, Oakville, ON’s third-generation Olympian Mark Oldershaw will cover the same distance in his canoe in C-1 heats. He will be looking to improve on his top-10 performance in Beijing.

Soccer
In a first-ever semifinal Olympic appearance, the Canadian women’s squad will face North American rival and tournament heavyweight the U.S. The match will see top-tournament scorer Melissa Tancredi of Ancaster, ON square off with U.S.A.’s Abby Wambach, each going into the tilt with four markers each. Kick-off is 2:45 p.m. EST

Boxing
After an agonizing wait to secure the final wildcard quota spot to compete in the debut Olympic event for women, three-time world champion Mary Spencer of Windsor, ON steps into the ring in the middleweight 75kg class after getting a bye in the first round. She will fight Jinzi Li of China at 11 a.m EST

Diving
After missing the podium with partner Reuban Ross in the 3m springboard synchronized event, Olympic veteran Alex Despatie will look to redeem on the board in the individual event. He begins preliminary rounds at 2 p.m. EST.
