Gold in Berlin

August 8, 1936: Canadian canoeist Frank Amyot wins gold in the men’s C-1 1000m event at the Games of the XI Olympiad in Berlin. The medal is Canada’s lone gold of the 1936 Games. It is the first of six Olympic medals Canada has won in the C-1 1000m, the most recent being Mark Oldershaw’s bronze at London 2012.
