Zhang to defend Pan Am table tennis title at home

Mo Zhang will defend her Pan Am Games title in women’s singles at home when table tennis gets underway at Toronto 2015 this summer.

Zhang moved up to gold at Guadalajara 2011 from a team silver four years earlier in Rio and will be looking to make it three Pan Am medals in as many Games. Zhang’s fellow Olympian Eugene Wang will head the men’s side of the competition for Team Canada.

Joining Zhang on the women’s side are Anqi Luo and 15-year old Alicia Cote, who as of this team announcement, is the youngest athlete on Canada’s Pan Am team.

The men’s team is filled out with Pierre-Luc Theriault and Marko Medjugorac joining Wang.

Zhang won Canada’s lone Pan Am table tennis medal four years ago. Four years earlier Table Tennis Canada brough home three medals from this competition.

The matches will take place from July 19 to 25 at the Atos Markham Pan Am Centre. (Get Tickets)
