The sight of sand can make any place feel tropical, even a giant asphalt no-man’s land. The ingredients for beach volleyball are sand and water, which is almost achieved with the nearness of the Ontario Place West Channel. The heart of the game is finding some buds and setting up a net on the beach, but fans have become accustomed to seeing large grandstands surround the athletes. In a way, it’s a good thing. Now thousands of people can watch an incredibly entertaining sport.
