Canadian Olympic Team Sets New All-Time Team Record for Most Gold Medals at an Olympic Winter Games
Following a gold medal performance by Canada’s women’s hockey team today, the Canadian Olympic Team announced they have set an all-time new team high for most gold medals at an Olympic Winter Games with eight.
Canada’s previous high at an Olympic Winter Games was seven – a mark they reached in each of the last two Olympic Winter Games in 2006 and 2002.
With its recent success and the scheduled medal events on the horizon, Canada continues to near the mark of most gold medals won by a host nation at a Winter Games. The United States (2002) and Norway (1994) each won 10 gold medals when they played host.
The record for most gold medals at an Olympic Winter Games is 13 – held by the former Soviet Union (1976) and Norway (2002).
