If there’s one venue that draws attention at a multi-sport games, it’s the pool. (Think: Beijing’s Water Cube) And Toronto’s version isn’t just the standard two tanks for swimming, diving, and synchronized swimming. Tack on the Field House and this venue will host fencing, modern pentathlon, and roller sports – speed skating.

The building is 312,000 square feet and has two 10-lane Olympic-size (50m) pools. There is a dive tank at one end plus a four-court gymnasium, indoor running track, along with a fitness centre. The Canadian Sport Institute Ontario is located at this venue which opened in September 2014. After the games, high-performance athletes and the public will use the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre (long-term name).
Some of the Canadians who will compete here are swimmers Ryan Cochrane and Katerine Savard. Add divers Roseline Filion, Meaghan Benfeito, Jennifer Abel, and Pamela Ware plus the top Canadian synchronized swimmers, modern pentathletes and fencers.
