Team selected as men’s softball returns to Pan Am Games
Softball Canada selected the 15 players that will represent the country during the Pan Am Games. Men’s softball will makes its return to the Pan Am after being removed in 2003.
Softball Canada released its full roster for the 2015 Pan Am Games, after naming the first seven players in December. The team features a mesh of long-term veterans and newcomers who will takeover the Pan Am Ballpark in Ajax on July 12-18. The roster includes national team veterans Jeff Ellsworth, Sean Cleary, Brandon Horn, Paul Koert, Derek Mayson, Steve Mullaley and Mathieu Roy.
On home soil, the team will look to continue Canada’s history of success at the Pan Am Games by winning its eighth gold medal.
“I am extremely proud to be able to represent Canada at the upcoming Pan American Games in Toronto.” Said Ellsworth. “Playing at the international level is great but playing and battling for your country on home soil is a special feeling. Great memories will be made in July.”
Prior to hitting the ballpark at the Pan Am Games the team will compete in the World Softball Championship from June 26 to July 5 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
