Milano Cortina 2026: Team Canada at the end of Day 12
MILAN (February 18, 2026) – Day 12 at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games has come to a close. Here’s what you need to know.

FREESTYLE SKIING
- The men’s freestyle skiing aerials qualification and final have been rescheduled to 10:30am and 1:30pm, respectively.
TEAM CANADA DAY 12 MOMENTS:
CURLING
- Canada’s men’s curling team defeated Italy 8-3. The team, who already secured its playoff spot, will wrap up round robin play with a draw against Norway on Day 13 (February 19).
- On the women’s side, Team Homan now sits tied for third in the standings after defeating Italy 8-7. They will need to defeat Korea in their final round robin game on Day 13 (February 19) in order to qualify for the playoffs.
HOCKEY
- The Canadian men’s hockey team are heading to the semifinals after a 4-3 comeback win over Czechia in overtime.
SPEED SKATING – SHORT TRACK
- Team Canada won the bronze medal in the women’s 3000m relay in short track speed skating at Milano Cortina 2026.It’s Canada’s first Olympic medal in this event since Sochi 2014.
- This was the sixth career Olympic medal for Kim Boutin (Sherbrooke, Que.), tying her as Canada’s most decorated Winter Olympian with Cindy Klassen and fellow short track speed skater Charles Hamelin.
- It’s the fourth medal of the Games for Courtney Sarault (Moncton, N.B.). Only one other Canadian has won that many at a single Olympic Winter Games (Klassen won five medals in long track speed skating at Turin 2006).
- Steven Dubois (Terrebonne, Que.) won his fifth career Olympic medal, a gold in the men’s 500m short track speed skating.
- It is Team Canada’s first medal in a men’s individual short track event at these Games.
- Canada had won seven medals (two gold, two silver, three bronze) previously in the men’s 500m, all since Salt Lake City 2002. Dubois himself won bronze in the 500m four years ago at Beijing 2022.
