Béatrice Lamarche

Biography

Béatrice Lamarche is set to make her Olympic debut at Milano Cortina 2026. She will become a second-generation Olympian, following her father Benoît, who competed in speed skating at Sarajevo 1984 and Calgary 1988.

Lamarche earned her first individual medal on the ISU World Cup circuit at the 2025-26 season opener in Salt Lake City, taking bronze in the 1000m with a personal best time of 1:12.77. She had made her World Cup debut in November 2016.

Lamarche competed at her first ISU World Single Distances Championships in 2020. Her career best individual results at the world championships were 12th place finishes in 1000m in 2021 and 1500m in 2023. In 2025, she won a silver medal in the team sprint, a non-Olympic event.

Lamarche won two individual medals at the 2023 ISU Four Continents Championships, taking bronze in the 1000m and 3000m. She added a gold medal in the team pursuit. She was also part of a gold medal in the team sprint at the 2025 Four Continents Championships.

Lamarche competed at three straight ISU World Junior Championships, starting in 2016. She claimed the world junior title in the mass start in 2018 after bronze medals in 2016 and 2017. She also won bronze in the 1500m in 2016 and bronze in the 1000m in 2017.

She won five medals (three gold, two silver) in short track speed skating at the 2015 Canada Winter Games.

Getting into the Sport: Started speed skating at age 5, following her older brother into the sport… Mostly competed in short track when she was younger, but was too shy to be aggressive off the start line… Upon turning senior, experienced a lot of nerves and anxiety so began working with a therapist to control her emotions, which made her more confident… Outside Interests: Enjoys cooking and baking and finding new recipes to make… Studied Kinesiology at Laval University in Quebec City… Odds and Ends: Favourite motto: “If your goal doesn’t scare you, it’s not big enough”…
