Mitch Marner

Biography

Mitch Marner is set to make his Olympic debut at Milano Cortina 2026. Marner was a member of Canada’s championship-winning team at the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off. He scored the overtime goal in Canada’s opening match win over Sweden and assisted on both the game-tying and game-winning goals in the final.

Marner made his debut with the senior men’s national team at the 2017 IIHF World Championship where he helped Canada to a silver medal, finishing second on the team with 12 points. In 2016 he was part of Canada’s sixth-place finish at the IIHF World Junior Championship.

He first wore the red and white as a member of Team Canada Ontario at the 2014 U17 Hockey Challenge. Later that same year he won gold with Canada’s U18 team at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament.

Marner was chosen fourth overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs. He played nine seasons in Toronto and was named an assistant captain in 2019. He led the team in scoring five times and reached the 100-point plateau in 2024-25. He joined the Vegas Golden Knights for the 2025-26 season. He is a two-time First Team All-Star selection (2021, 2022) and in 2023 was a finalist for the Selke Trophy as the league’s top defensive forward.

Marner played junior hockey for London in the OHL. In 2015-16 he co-captained the Knights to the OHL title and the Memorial Cup as CHL Champions. He became just the second player ever to win the CHL MVP, league (OHL) MVP, and both the Memorial Cup and league playoff MVP.
