Trennt Michaud
Biography
Lia Pereira and Trennt Michaud made their Olympic debuts at Milano Cortina 2026. They had a breakout moment when they placed third in the short program of the pairs event. They went on to finish eighth overall. That came after they skated in both portions of the team event, helping Canada to a fifth place finish.
A month later, Pereira and Michaud built on that success, winning bronze at the 2026 ISU Figure Skating World Championships with personal best scores in both programs.
It was just three years earlier that Pereira and Michaud had competed at their first world championships together, which came just over six months after the formation of their partnership.
The partnership was formed in late August 2022 after Michaud’s previous partner, Evelyn Walsh, decided to retire. Walsh and Michaud were three-time national silver medallists and competed in three world championships together, the last in 2022 after being alternates for that year’s Olympic team.
Within four months of starting to skate together, Pereira and Michaud made their international debut as a pair, despite Pereira’s only previous experience in pairs coming about five years earlier in the novice category.
In early 2023, Pereira and Michaud won bronze at the national championships. That qualified them for the ISU Four Continents Championships, where they finished fourth, and the ISU World Championships, where they finished a very impressive sixth.
In the fall of 2023, Pereira and Michaud debuted on the ISU Grand Prix Series. They won a gold and a silver, qualifying them for the ISU Grand Prix Final. They went on to win silver at the 2024 national championships, followed by top eight performances at the Four Continents Championships and world championships.
During the 2024-25 season, they won their first ISU Championship medal, taking bronze at the Four Continents Championships. That came after a physical and mental reboot following a disappointing start to their season. They won their first national title in 2026.
