Biography

Tyler Wotherspoon made his Olympic debut at Beijing 2022 where he recorded two assists in the tournament. Wotherspoon’s first international experience came as a member of the Canada Pacific team at the 2010 World U-17 Hockey Challenge. He played for the U-20 team at the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship, scoring once and adding an assist as Canada placed fourth.

Wotherspoon was selected in the second round, 57th overall, by the Calgary Flames in the 2011 NHL Draft. He played junior hockey with the Portland Winterhawks, with whom he won a WHL Championship and earned a second team all-star selection in 2013. That season he also played for the WHL All-Stars in the Canada/Russia Super Series.

He spent the four seasons (2013-14 to 2016-17) with Calgary, split between the NHL and AHL. He appeared in 30 NHL games with the Flames over that time before spending the entire 2017-18 season in the AHL with Stockton. He joined St. Louis’ AHL affiliate in San Antonio in 2018-19 before joining Philadelphia’s Lehigh Valley for 2019-20 and 2020-21. Wotherspoon signed a one-year deal with the AHL’s Utica Comets for 2021-22.
