Beware of Canada’s Boxers

August 24, 1920: It’s a five medal day for Canada in the boxing ring at the Games of the VII Olympiad in Antwerp. Bert Schneider wins Canada’s first-ever Olympic boxing gold, this one in the welterweight division. Georges Prud’homme and Moe Herscovitch win silver and bronze, respectively, in the middleweight division. Chris Graham wins silver in the bantamweight division and Clarence Newton wins bronze in the lightweight division.
