Chris Robanske caps world cup season with SBX victory in Spain
Canada’s Chris Robanske finished off the World Cup season with a snowboard cross win on Saturday in La Molina, Spain.
The 25-year-old beat out 2014 Olympic bronze medallist Alex Deibold of the USA, and third-place finisher Alex Pullin of Australia who is a two-time world champion.
“I cannot really put it into words. I had a really hard season riding well but with some injuries. I woke up today with a good mindset as everybody had the same conditions today. I’m really happy to get a good result today,” said Robanske on the FIS website.
It is the second World Cup victory of Robanske’s career, and fifth individual medal. Kevin Hill of Vernon, BC was unable to match his medal performances from last week, finishing 15th. Hill completes a shortened World Cup season fourth overall, while Robanske is fifth.
In her final World Cup event, two-time Olympic medallist Dominique Maltais was sixth.
