Kane highlights Canadian golf team at Pan Am Games
Editor’s note: An earlier version of this post included Brooke Henderson on the women’s team. Henderson has since withdrawn as the 17-year-old has a chance to pursue a pro career in the LPGA Tour sooner than expected. (More about Henderson’s pursuit)
The four players who will tee off for Canada at the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games were named Sunday by Golf Canada.
LPGA veteran Lorie Kane will represent Canada when the sport makes its Pan Am debut at the Angus Glen Golf Club. Brooke Henderson was also named to the Pan Am team, but withdrew to pursue professional interests, her replacement has not been announced.
Kane is the most decorated golfer of the group with four LPGA wins to her career. She has 99 top-10 tour finishes, achieving that feat eight times in the major tournaments.
The men’s side also includes a teenager to watch for the future in 18-year-old amateur Austin Connelly, along with Garrett Rank.
Following Pan Am Games, golf set to return to the Olympic schedule at Rio 2016.
